Background
The company behind the Power Station are the owners
of Sankey's, the Manchester venue which began in 1994 and which was
voted this year by industry standard DJ magazine the world's No.
1 nightclub in the only poll of its kind.
Sankey's is a nightlife institution and the venue
is part of the Making of Manchester exhibition in Manchester's Museum
of Science and Industry.
Sankeys is located in, and is the anchor
company of the pioneering urban regeneration scheme in the 1824 Beehive
Mill in Ancoats, Manchester, a 40,000 sq ft hub for creative businesses.
Beehive Mill is owned by the directors of Sankeys and The Power Station.
Location
The site is excellently located for visitors by car and by public
transport. The site is accessible by bus and Metrolink, which
also links up with the train services from Manchester's rail stations.
The
site is well situated for a number of hotels and is located in close
proximity to Manchester city centre and Salford Quays.
The proposed
scheme is in a zone for high-profile leisure attractions, close to
Manchester United FC and Lancashire County Cricket Club in Trafford,
and The Lowry, The Imperial War Museum and Media City within Salford.

Economic Benefits
A minimum of 290 full time and part time jobs will be created. In
addition, 70 full time jobs will be created during the six month
construction period prior to opening. Stadium Point Ltd intends
to appoint a local construction company.
The scheme will be a significant investment stimulus for the
area and the proposals will bring direct investment into Trafford. The
Power Station will attract a significant number of visitors to Trafford
each year, generating additional spending in the economy. It will enhance
Trafford's status for music entertainment, and reinforce its reputation
as an internationally significant visitor destination.
